Over the last year, some comic book movie studios, especially Warner Bros., have been heavily criticized for cutting a tremendous amount of footage from their films; namely Suicide Squad and Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Both of those films later received an extended cut/ultimate cut on the Blu-ray which made the original film considerably better.
Since then, the topic of over-edited theatrical cuts has been a hot topic among fans, especially since it has become public that David Ayer and Zack Snyder (the directors of Squad and BVS) were not satisfied with the theatrical cuts.
In just a little over a month, fans will be treated to the sequel to 2014’s Guardians Of The Galaxy and director James Gunn recently confirmed in a Twitter exchange that the version fans will see in theaters is definitely his cut.
The released version WILL BE the Director’s Cut. No need for a different cut since the studio didn’t make me change anything. https://t.co/wZ2vQFhX7w

Now, that last sentence might be a jab at Warner Bros., however, it is nice to know we’ll be getting the full product. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release on May 5, 2017, and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russel, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Glenn Close, Chris Sullivan, and Sylvester Stallone.
