It has been known for some time that Ego would be revealed in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be Peter Quill’s father. One question that arises from this is how will the two interact upon meeting? According to Kurt Russell during an interview with Comicbook.com, his son isn’t as impressed by him as he anticipated being his whole life.
“He has a great, adventurous spirit that he shares with his son. We can all understand how you’d want to meet your dad if you didn’t know who your dad was, and you’d heard these things about your father and you’d been told certain things by your mother, and you’re trying to put it together. I think, when it comes to parents that are missing, we have a tendency to put them on a pedestal. Peter is living in that world, but to finally have the opportunity to meet that person and then begin to compare who you had in mind and what you’re really getting is a lot of what we’re doing.”
It will be interesting to see how Quill deals with meeting his father and realizing he’s not all he was cracked up to be, on top of dealing with the escapade in store for him an the Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5th, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on all things Guardians!
