Fans are still raving about Dafne Keen’s X-23. Though in the comics we are used to seeing her as a fairly older character than she appears in the film, James Mangold thought it best to have such an age contrast between her and Logan which he discussed recently in an interview with Collider.
“I felt that if we got into the teenage years of X-23, it would feel like a CW show. And the X-Men movies have done a lot of young characters with adults playing these parts. I wanted to confront Logan with what he was most frightened of, which was the idea of being a dad. A real dad, not to an unruly teenager, but to a child.”
With skills like hers, if she had been an angsty teenager she probably wouldn’t have needed the help she did from Logan and Professor X. The fatherly figure he provided was a staple to the plot and added greatly to the emotional turmoil experienced by the audience. New concept art has been released and it gives us a look at X-23 as an teenager, as well as some alternate looks at the other mutants from the film. You can check them out below.
