A favorite among duos in Marvel comics is that of Deadpool and Cable. The two characters are so dissimilar that when paired together, it’s nothing short of a comedic and action-packed thrill ride. Having seen this team-up multiple times throughout the years of comics, as well as in the Deadpool video game, there is a lot of reference to be used for how to display it on-screen. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick talked in a very general sense about what can be expected in the sequel during an interview with ComingSoon.
“Ryan [Reynolds] plays Deadpool with a hint of femininity, and I think that can be funny opposite a Cable who’s über-masculine,” Reese said. “That’ll come into casting and performance and the character design and his wardrobe and things like that too. I think we’ll definitely play into that.”
Of course, casting hasn’t been confirmed for the character yet, but we can expect a very burly, no-nonsense portrayal of Cable to contrast Deadpool’s constant joking and lack of seriousness. The film’s team seems to be as eager to get this relationship right as we are to see it. Be sure to stay tuned for updates on all things Deadpool!
