Now that Iron Fist is available for streaming on Netflix, the last Defender has officially been introduced to the Defenders universe and will soon join Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage on a team-up mission to fight an evil greater than what any of them could handle on their own.
If you’re a comic book reader, you’ll know that Danny Rand and Luke Cage have a unique relationship. They have a joint comic book run known as Heroes For Hire which has been very popular, and fans of the books are eager to see how their relationship plays out in live-action.
When promoting Iron Fist, Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick (who will both also star in The Defenders) talked about this topic a little bit, giving some insight into what fans can expect to see.
“The first Luke Cage [and] Iron Fist is going to – oh, people are going to love it. Yeah, it’s a really cool dynamic. It’s unusual,” Henwick teased before Jones jumped in.
“The Cage and Iron Fist stuff is working really well,” he said.
In a past interview, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter elaborated a bit more on how exactly Danny Rand and the Power Man will interact:
“He’s a young guy. There’s an exuberance that Iron Fist comes with that Luke Cage wants to temper a bit. It can’t help but have a wisdom-versus-youth quality… Danny comes out like a bull in a china shop in some ways, and I think Luke has seen the world and knows certain things. It’s a cool combination that’ll work out.”
Iron Fist is now streaming on Netflix. The Defenders recently wrapped production, however, it has not set a clear release date yet.
