Aaron Davis Wouldn’t Have Been Included In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Without Donald Glover

Donald Glover, while he didn’t have a role at the forefront of Spider-Man: Homecoming, took on a role that could open up doors for the favorite Wall-Crawler second to Peter Parker; Miles Morales. In the film he portrayed Aaron Davis, known in the comics as the villain Prowler, who is also the uncle to Miles. In the movie, he tells Spidey that he doesn’t want Vulture’s weapons on the streets because he has a nephew that lives in the neighborhood. While this excited us to no end, it could’ve just as easily not happened. While talking with the Hollywood Reporter, Glover revealed the reason that Aaron Davis appeared.

“If you don’t do [the part], we aren’t going to [include] it.”

This is what director Jon Watts told Glover when he approached him for the role. If there were anything that had driven him from portraying Aaron Davis, then the seeds might not have been sewn for Miles’ existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, this is not the case and we can eagerly await the day when (hopefully) the two Web-Slingers share the big screen. Until then, be sure to stay tuned for updates on all things Spider-Man!
