Riz Ahmed In Talks To Join ‘Venom’

Sony’s Venom has been the topic of much controversy. After the casting of Tom Hardy as the titular character, many fans felt a bit more optimistic about the solo film that excludes Spider-Man. Now, fans might have another reason to be at ease.

According to Variety, actor Riz Ahmed is in talks to join the cast as well. While no details have been revealed about what role he is in talks for, sources say it will be a popular Marvel character. This prompted many to assume that Ahmed could be playing the villain Carnage.

Ahmed has previously appeared in the HBO series The Night Of and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Ruben Fleisher is going to direct and Scott Rosenberg (“Jumanji”) and Jeff Pinkner (“The Dark Tower”) will write the script for “Venom,” with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing the movie, along with Amy Pascal. Palak Patel and Eric Fineman are overseeing the project for Columbia Pictures.

Venom will hit theaters early October 2018.
