In the season 3 finale of The Flash, Barry left everyone behind to become the Speed Force’s prisoner. While fans may or may not have been on board with this, it is where we will initially see him in season 4. At SDCC Comicbook.com talked with some of the cast about what we can expect from the beginning of the season, as well as when it takes place.
Gustin: “Six months later. Barry’s in the Speed Force. And that’s pretty much all I’ve got, because Barry’s in the Speed Force.”
Patton: “He [Barry] is very mad about it. We pick up six months later. S.T.A.R. Labs is trying to keep it together without Barry, so Kid Flash is kind of taking up a lot of the slack for Barry; Iris is kind of the team leader at S.T.A.R. Labs this season – or at least starting in the season without Barry – and Joe, and Cisco… We’re all trying to keep Central City safe without The Flash. It’s hard – it’s hard not having him around.”
While Iris continuously seems to be what keeps Barry pushing himself to be the best hero that he can be, it’s hard to imagine her in a leadership role on the team. Hopefully this doesn’t last too long and Barry will come back to correct things, though it will be interesting to see how Wally is handling the heroing. The Flash season 4 premieres October 10th so be sure to stay tuned for updates on all things the Scarlet Speedster!
