Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World who was slated to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, has left the project due to butting heads with the studio. Lucasfilm released a statement saying the two parties came to the decision mutually, and that their “visions for the project differ”.
The studio went on to say that production on the film will begin sometime in January of next year. This leaves us with the question of what will happen with the screenplay. Trevorrow wrote the original script with Derek Connolly and Jack Thorne, but it is unclear whether or not Lucasfilm will decide to go with their script or not. More news is coming, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on all things Star Wars: Episode IX!
